Homemade Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Here's what you'll need to make a generous portion of these filling, homemade mashed potatoes:

5 whole potatoes, raw (peeled if desired)
1 cup melted butter
1/2 cup diced chives
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of parsley
Salt and pepper
Sour cream (optional)
Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Boil the potatoes in water until soft. This could take up to an hour depending on the size of the potatoes.

Take the soft potatoes and place them in a blender to "mash" them (if you don't have a blender, a large bowl and wooden spoon will do the trick). Put this mash into a saucepan over medium heat.

Add the 1 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of chives, garlic powder, parsley, and 1 cup of milk. Mix everything together, making sure the mixture stays hot. Salt and pepper to taste.

Top with cheese and sour cream if desired.
